Pilates-Based Rehabilitation

Pilates is a unique method of conditioning that combines muscle strengthening and lengthening with specific breathing patterns to develop and restore muscle balance in the body. The principles of the Pilates method include proper breathing, core control, alignment and posture, precision, and control all to improve movement quality and promote efficient movement patterns.

Pilates can be incorporated into almost all patient programs to increase range of motion and flexibility, improve strength and posture control, and promote kinesthetic awareness. It can be adapted for almost any level of patient as exercises can be performed supine, sitting, kneeling or standing and can be modified to each client’s activity tolerance.
